I haven’t blogged in a long time blah blah blah

Well I was busy.  I got a new job and then I quit.  I started to apply to grad school then my mimo got sick.  I started looking for jobs and started babysitting.  I went home for thanksgiving and still had no job.  I kept babysitting and my mimo got more sick.  Tyler and I went home for 3 weeks for Christmas, drove around the entire metroplex about 5 times and then happy new year now we’re back in C.Stat.

Tyler and I had our first Christmas tree this year in our tiny apartment, and we got a lot of ornaments from family for Christmas too which is exciting for next year.  It was a live tree, Tyler and I decided we’re live tree people.

Also happy new year to me, I got a job! I am now a Digital Media Consultant for a local company in College Station and could not be more excited about it.  This is definitely an answer to prayer so thank you to all of you that have been praying for us.

I haven’t been crafting.  I’ve been trying to babysit as much as possible, find a job, and now spend time with my husband and friends before my new jobs starts!  I feel like this blog was lame but I needed to start somewhere so I figured a lame update would suffice.

Love y’all,

Hello all!  Tyler and I figured it was time for an update and we really wanted to post some pictures from around the apartment.  For the past month I have been job hunting and when I haven’t been interviewing or working on applications I have been either watching t.v. or working on little crafty things around the house.  As most of you know I am not a crafty person.  I don’t make things; I buy things.  But I figured I would make an exception considering we didn’t have a second income yet and I was bored.  It was start working out or start working on crafts… I vouched for the crafts.

I made a book page wreath (which took me about 2 days!), and it is above our couch.

And I also made a canvas modge-podged with old sheet music and then I added a “K”

And the lovely Vicki Campbell bought Tyler and me our housewarming present which is this beautiful green door which just so happened to match our duvet cover perfectly, so it is now our headboard!

Tyler and (especially) I have had a lot of fun getting our apartment feeling homey and welcoming.  We’ve gotten a lot of compliments on our tiny living space and are growing more and more to really love our apartment and our life in college station!

For those of you who haven’t heard, I HAVE A JOB!!!!  I am now the future manager, i.e. manager-in-training, for the George Bush location of Aggieland Outfitters and couldn’t be more excited about it! My first day is tomorrow and I am so thrilled to wake up at 7 a.m. and work from 8-5, because I have felt so unproductive this past month.  I am nervous because I do have a lot to learn and will be eventually in charge.  I am just so thankful that the Lord has provided us with a source of income and very quickly!  It is going to be interesting getting used to working monday-friday from 8-5 and saturdays when there’s a home game.  I am nervous and excited and have appreciated everyone’s prayers and would appreciate those prayers to continue that I would just adjust quickly and really fit in well at the store!

We miss everyone so much and wanted to give a quick update that the Lord is providing and we are really loving our life together right now!  The Lord has just taught us so much about how we handle stress within our marriage and how to really trust in the Lord’s provision.  Continue to pray for us as we are still adjusting to this new season of life and we hope to see y’all very soon!

The Kerns

Well we’re still waiting to get our wedding pictures back and we’re pretty excited!  But because of a few dear friends we have some pictures from the bachelorette party, while I was getting ready, and of the wedding itself.  So we’re happy to report that we’ll be able to post a few of these to give y’all a taste of our BIG day!

So that’s just a little taste of the amazing wedding photos that are to come, and we’re excited to share them with you guys soon!  These past few weeks have been crazy with the honeymoon and then moving into our first apartment together and trying to transform it into our first home.  The honeymoon was amazing, we relaxed, swam in the ocean AND went zip lining through the jungle!

Now we are all moved into our apartment, minus a few projects I’ve taken on.  I’ve decided to sew decorative pillows rather than buy, make a wreath for our living room, and a canvas modge-podged with old sheet music for over our bed.  Needless to say our apartment is beginning to come together and it’s really becoming our home and place we look forward to spending time together and relaxing in.  And don’t worry, I will be posting pictures of all the little projects that we’ll have going on in the house.

We miss everyone very much but we are so glad that we have so much love and support constantly being poured into us.  Right now we are both working at Textbook Solutions and I am looking for a full-time position.  I have two interviews this coming week so please please keep that in your prayers.  The Lord is really stretching our faith and really teaching us to rely on Him.  We are really learning that the Lord is sovereign and to trust in His provision.  We love you guys lots and will be updating more often now that we’re settled and will want to keep you guys updated!

So yes we are back from Greece and we had a wonderful trip.  First we’d like to thank the Lord and all of our supporters for giving us the wonderful opportunity to go abroad for 5 weeks to learn more about the Lord and Greek culture.  We had the pleasure of meeting many college students while we were there and learning about their culture, education, language, and religion.  We continue to pray for them daily and trust that the Lord is faithful.

“…for the Lord will go before you, the God of Israel will be your rear guard.” Isaiah 52:12b

Please join in praying with us for our friends Leonidas, Petros, Dimitra, Augousta, Labros, and George.  We became very close to these people and count them as our friends.  Tyler and I were very sad to leave them. Here are a few pictures from our trip:

“Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever.”  –Hebrews 13:20-21

Words cannot express how excited we are right now!  Tomorrow morning we will be shuttled to DFW airport at 6 a.m. to board a plane to Houston, then we’ll fly to Paris and then finally we’ll fly to Athens.  We’ll be in Athens for about 4 days and then Sunday we’ll fly to Ioannina!  We have felt very encouraged since we arrived to briefing just seeing still how faithful the Lord is and bonding with our team members.  It truly is going to be an amazing trip and cannot believe it’s finally here!

We are so appreciative to everyone who partnered with us and have supported us through this whole process.  This would not have been possible without the love and support of our friends and family.  Please remember to keep us and the hearts of the Grecians in your prayers and that the Lord would prepare the way.  We love all of y’all so much and hopefully will get a few chances to update the blog from Ioannina.

‘Til then we’re going to sign out and leave y’all with a picture of where we will be spending 5 glorious weeks sharing the message of Christ!

We have been very encouraged to see how the Lord has provided as we continue to raise support for Greece.  We just need to continue to keep the faith and trust that the Lord will provide the remaining amount.  It has been an interesting semester balancing wedding planning and support raising, but the Lord has been faithful so far and we trust He will continue to be.

“Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.”  -1 Corinthians 15:58

Just please be praying that we would continue to rely on the Lord, and also that He would not only prepare our hearts but begin to prepare the hearts of those we will meet.

So much is happening right now.  It’s been crazy with the Greece stuff and now being engaged! ahhhh so crazy BUT fun!

This is the night of the actual engagement

This is us when we got to take fun-faux engagement pictures courtesy of Mandy O’Dell!
